Fashion always has more than one look which is why we look at designers and fashion retailers to see a range of hot looks for the season and then pick the ones that will suit us best. Today I'm bringing you a few of the trends forecast by Saks Fifth Avenue -

The abstract florals have already been apparent in some of the gorgeous shoes we've seen from our favorite designers, bold colors and floral based patterns certainly look like they're going to be coming into their own.

When they talk about transparent interest it means we are going to continue to see a lot of lace and mesh in overlays on everything from dresses to booties.   

In the Age of Aquarius we are seeing fringy, boho style meets 1960s Woodstock with some fun festival wear - it's all about fun fashion - prints, fringes, layers.

Do You Have Any Wedges for Spring/Summer?

Wedges Are Great Summer Shoes

I don't know what it is about wedges, but they say it's summertime to me or summer is almost here at least. They go really well with summer fashions especially the Boho styles which are looking to be extremely popular this year. There are lots of different wedges available though so where to start?

Here are a few wedges I think will look great this summer -

Alexander Wang Alla Open-Toe Suede-Paneled Leather Wedge Booties

These wedge booties by Alexander Wang are very on-trend this year as this summer looks set to be over-run with open toe booties!

I love the cutout wedge heel and the pop of bright blue suede at the back of the otherwise black and which neutral bootie.

I can see these being worn at the office as well as in the evening, not really a beach shoe though or even one to wear to a garden party, but still a useful addition to your shoe arsenal.

Alice + Olivia Jenna Pinstriped Leather Wedge Sandals

These Alice + Olivia wedge sandals are on my must have for summer list.   The monochrome pinstripes add an element of graphic cool to the classic wedge sandals.   Stripes are still in this season so these sandals will go beautiful with a range of interesting outfits.

If you're not a fan of the striped dresses or tops that seem to be everywhere at the moment you can use these sandals to add stripes to an otherwise 'plain' outfit and still seem on-trend.

These sandals work beautifully with a pair of cropped jeans as well as denim shorts and let's face it denim is always a safe bet to wear!   

Jimmy Choo Papyrus Patent Leather & Cork Wedge Sandals

These Jimmy Choo wedge sandals are available in the white seen here along with black or nude, so basically all of the neutrals and they are perfect for wearing day or night with dresses or pants.

These are a platform wedge in a natural cork which always looks good in the summer.   The ankle strap is adjustable and they add a little something to the shoe which lifts it above cork wedged sandals of previous years that have had nothing at the ankle and have just been slip on sandals.

I think Jimmy Choo has provided the perfect summer wedge here, but if you don't agree then you'll be happy to know he also has a range of other wedges and you can see some of them when you click on the shoe above.

I've featured these shoes on my Pinterest feed as I think they are simply gorgeous!   They certainly fit with this post as they are wedges, perfect for spring or summer and they are full of fun with the multi-colored fringe.

New Clothes from Free People

I've just been browsing some of the new arrivals at Free People and thought I would share a few of them with you. As you can probably tell I do love Free People, their take on Boho fashion is one that I love.

Here's a few looks I'm crushing on at the moment.

Shibori Magic Buttondown

I love the look of this shirt and it works beautifully with a pair of jeans for a casual look.   It would also look great thrown over a bathing suit as a cover up which makes it very versatile for Spring and Summer.

Another item I'm loving at the moment is this one -

Justine Dress

I love this dress, it's very feminine and definitely encapsulates Boho Chic in my mind.   Worn by itself this gauzy cotton mini dress has crochet detailing and with the plunging open back and tie aroun the neck and works very well for the beach babe look.

In summer this would look great to throw over your bathing costume when you leave the beach to grab lunch or a drink in a cafe.

I also think it would be great worn as an oversized top over a pair of cropped skinny jeans or printed straight legged (boho inspired) pants.

The seemingly effortless shapeless fit of the dress actually helps to accentuate your figure really well and I love what feels like a generous abundance of material used in it - it gives it a feeling of luxury :)

Printed Wide Legged Pant

I also love the range of printed wide legged pants that are available at the moment, I particularly love the ones above from Free People.   I love the look which is also available in a black and white version that I also like (very hard to choose between the two).   I also like the fact that these pants don't have an elastic waist like a similar looking pant did that I tried on the other day.   These wide legged pants have a hook and eye closure with a zip and I think it just makes them sit a lot nicer on your waist.

This summer you really are going to need some style of printed wide legged pants and if you don't like these then click the link anyway as Free People have plenty of others to choose from.

A Woman's (Not So) Best Kept Secret

You can find a little black dress in most women's wardrobe as it's generally considered a must have staple. There are lots of different styles of what is affectionately referred to as the LBD available, you simply find a style that suits your body shape and you have a classic dress that you can wear with confidence.

Let's look at a few little black dress and see what one you prefer here -

River Island Sheer Panel Bodycon Dress

This dress is by River Island who are generally known for their vibrant printed party dresses, feminine detailing, statement jackets and lots of denim.

Here we don't have any of the vibrant prints, but their little black dress is full of feminine detailing and looks positively stunning.   Great details are what makes this dress and I personally think it's perfect for Friday night drinks.

ASOS Pencil Dress with Split Front

This pencil dress with split front is an example of a cutting edge little black dress.   This dress can take you from office vamp to party girl with just a fluff of your hair and some night time make-up!

Pussycat London Chiffon Dress with Zip Front

This year chiffon seems to be at the forefront and I do like the way it adds some floaty, romantic feminine feel to dresses.   This chiffon dress by Pussycat London combines the soft chiffon look with the 'rock chick' vibe that a front zip adds.

This is definitely a different LBD to the previous two and I can see this being worn with conservative jewelry and a pair of killer heels or with a studded necklace and pair of Doc Martens - now that's what I call a versatile dress!

ASOS Midi Bardot Skater Dress in Texture

This dress from ASOS adds an off the shoulder look that Brigette Bardot made famous in her sex goddess days (hence the nod to her in the dress' name) to the ever popular skater dress fit.   Although the dress is a little longer than you generally see in skater dresses.

I think this little black dress has a very sophisticated and international feel to it, I would almost feel like talking with a French accent while wearing it, but that might be taking things a bit too far!

XOXO Junior's Mesh-Layer Bodycon Dress

This dress from XOXO includes a number of different styles which is why I think it will be very popular this spring/summer.   First we start off with an extremely on-trend black bodycon dress (tick), now we add a mesh overlay which is also on-trend (tick) and finally let's add shoulder cutouts (tick, tick).   I would add some cutout sandals or summer booties to this LBD and dance the night away in style!

Jessica Simpson Ruffled Illusion Dress

This dress by Jessica Simpson is a LBD that's also an illusion dress.   I must admit I'm not overly taken with this design.   There are some illusion dresses that I really like, but this isn't one of them.....my 18 year old niece however absolutely loves it so I thought I'd better add it in in case you like her style more than mine!

Chelsea & Zoe Pansy Sandals

Turn some heads with this unique, colorblocked silhouette. The Pansy sandals by Chelsea & Zoe.   I must admit that these are my favorite from today's selection.   They're like a cross between a simple strappy black sandal and a pair of on-trend summer caged booties.   The color combination is also very eye catching and I could see these looking great with either a dress or trousers.

Must Have Spring Looks 2015

There are a few must have looks this spring and one of them is the Matched Sets - this can replace dresses.   I still like the Maxi Dress personally and despite what I'm reading I think we'll still see it around a lot this spring and summer, but it you want to be really on-trend you'll swap it out for a matched set.
