Bomber Jackets to Die For!

This season the bomber jacket is a must have for your winter wardrobe, but there are lots of different styles of bomber jacket to choose from.   Here's six bomber jackets that all have their own different looks and if you can't find at least one of these that will blend in well with your wardrobe, well.......maybe you need a whole new wardrobe!

Classic Black Bomber Jacket

Let's first look at the classic black bomber jacket, although this one has a very on-trend fur trim along with quilted patches which gives a nod to the retro fashion it came from.

Retro Pilot Inspired Bomber Jacket

The olive green of this bomber jacket harks back to a retro Top Gun inspired jacket so if you're ready to 'get your 80s on' then this bomber jacket is perfect!

The embroidered patches helps to accentuate the retro feel of this cool jacket.

Glamorous Bomber Jackets - It's All About The Sparkle!

I've found two bomber jackets that I think of as a little glam, one is silver so great if you're following the metallic trend this season, the other uses sequins which are always fun!

Stripe Sequin Bomber Jacket

Topshop has taken the monochromic approach to this bomber jacket and has included the popular black and white stripes with dazzling sequins to add to the glam factor.   The ribbed cuffs give it a sporty feel which means you can wear this bomber jacket day or night!

Silver Quilted Bomber Jacket

Brought to you by none other than Saint Laurent this quilted metallic leather bomber jacket is described as a high shine bomber jacket from the label's 80s infused Fall 16 collection.

It's designed for a slightly looser fit which makes it perfect for layering and is perfect over an all black evening look to add a little bit of glamorous shine!

Faux Fur Bomber Jackets

Faux Fur is very on-trend at the moment and it can look great when combined with the bomber jacket look as I'll show you here.   You could just get a faux fur lined collar on your bomber jacket or you can add a little 'je n'ais ce pas' with one of these two jackets.....

This first faux fur bomber jacket is available in burgundy a very warm color that's very on-trend for this season and perfect for a look of warmth throughout winter.

If you're after a faux fur bomber jacket, but you aren't really feeling the metallic or deep jewel colors of the season then what about a neutral colored faux fur bomber jacket with a casual, boho chic feel to it?

Now before you think neutral is boring, let me tell you there's nothing boring about this jacket.  It's ombre, shaggy and it makes you just want to reach out and touch it.   I can't wait to try it on!

So which of these fun bomber jackets to you want this season?  Personally I want two of them - yes I know I'm greedy, but.....the classic black Georgina is a great bomber jacket that will fit beautifully into my wardrobe whereas the ombre faux fur is a jacket that I have fallen in love with!

Ribbed Knitted Dress - A Must Have Fashion Piece for Fall/Winter 2015

When it comes to great street fashion this fall and winter, there's one thing that you didn't know you needed - a ribbed knit dress!

Yes, the jumper dress is back in style and it's never looked better. You can see the likes of Kim Kardashian and Victoria Beckham sporting it so you know it must be right on trend.

There are a few different styles to choose from, but the most popular seems to be the high neck rib knitted dress which can be worn by itself or teamed up with a tailored jacket. Personally I like the look of a black ribbed maxi dress teamed with a black fedora style hat, ankle boots and a denim jacket for a mix of downtown street style and uptown sophistication style.

Of course not everyone likes the high neck look so you can try a round neck, off shoulder, cold shoulder or even a roll neck style. The key to this fashion piece is that it's knitted, here's a few of our picks for you.......

So how will you rock this look?

The use of plaid in fashion at the moment combines the grunge look of the nineties with the punk movement of the late 70s, early 80s and the look is one with a bit of an edge that's perfect for young street fashion.

You can use any of the pieces featured above or just add a plaid scarf into the mix to make sure that you have a little bit of this pattern in your wardrobe this season.

The Plaid Shirt Jacket is available from Forever 21 - click here.

New Clothes from Free People

I've just been browsing some of the new arrivals at Free People and thought I would share a few of them with you. As you can probably tell I do love Free People, their take on Boho fashion is one that I love.

Here's a few looks I'm crushing on at the moment.

Shibori Magic Buttondown Shirt - Perfect with Jeans
Shibori Magic Buttondown

I love the look of this shirt and it works beautifully with a pair of jeans for a casual look.   It would also look great thrown over a bathing suit as a cover up which makes it very versatile for Spring and Summer.

Another item I'm loving at the moment is this one -

Free People's Justine Dress - A Crochet Boho Minidress
Justine Dress
I love this dress, it's very feminine and definitely encapsulates Boho Chic in my mind.   Worn by itself this gauzy cotton mini dress has crochet detailing and with the plunging open back and tie aroun the neck and works very well for the beach babe look.

In summer this would look great to throw over your bathing costume when you leave the beach to grab lunch or a drink in a cafe.

I also think it would be great worn as an oversized top over a pair of cropped skinny jeans or printed straight legged (boho inspired) pants.

The seemingly effortless shapeless fit of the dress actually helps to accentuate your figure really well and I love what feels like a generous abundance of material used in it - it gives it a feeling of luxury :)

Boho Inspired Printed Wide Legged Pant
Printed Wide Legged Pant
I also love the range of printed wide legged pants that are available at the moment, I particularly love the ones above from Free People.   I love the look which is also available in a black and white version that I also like (very hard to choose between the two).   I also like the fact that these pants don't have an elastic waist like a similar looking pant did that I tried on the other day.   These wide legged pants have a hook and eye closure with a zip and I think it just makes them sit a lot nicer on your waist.

This summer you really are going to need some style of printed wide legged pants and if you don't like these then click the link anyway as Free People have plenty of others to choose from.

Well that's all for now, but whatever you're doing this week why not do it in style?

Boho Style

I love the Boho look and it certainly looks like being on fire again this summer, whether you wear dresses, trousers or skirts you can find your own boho style.

Let's have a look at a few different styles that embrace the gypsy, free spirit style that we call boho.

Boho style dress
Boho Style Dress

This dress is like a cross between a long flowing boho dress coupled with the overdress style that has been popular.   Look at the necklace and shoes the model is wearing which really help to add to the boho style.   I'd be tempted to add a few bangles to one arm as well and a floppy hat.

Boho tunic top with ripped jeans and fringed sandals - street fashion
Gorgeous Boho Top

Now I do love my jeans even though I also enjoy maxi dresses and the flowing boho dresses that are available this season.   This style shops how by choosing the right top you can even give your denim a boho feel to it.

Boho Printed Trousers with Black Crop Top

I love the range of printed trousers with the Boho feel that are available, they're lightweight and comfy while also looking great.   These trousers (above) are coupled with a black crop top, but you could pick out any of the colors in the print for a great look.   An aqua crocheted crop top that I was eyeballing the other day would look awesome with these trousers.

Of course you don't have to wear a crop top with these, longer tees are fine.   A great way of wearing these trousers is with a vest and a duster coat or kimono or even with a wind chaser style top.

Vans - A Shoe Story.

Sometimes we don't need a pair of Jimmy Choos or Louboutins, instead we want a pair of shoes that are comfy, look great and just finish off an outfit perfectly.

Vans have really nailed the market with their street fashion shoes seen in skate parks and shopping malls everywhere.   It's a simple sneaker, but the designs range from plain in just about any color and designs from Star Wars to Hello Kitty.

This next design combines a denim look with black which is definitely a unisex design that will fit in with just about anyone's casual wardrobe.

Of course there's lots more Vans shoes to choose from and I have a selection here for you to browse through -

Boho Style For Colder Months

Creating that Boho style that appears almost effortless to throw together is easy in summer and a lot of great looks can be created, but what happens as the cooler months roll in and late autumn turns into winter?

Well there's still lots of ways of creating a boho look, I've selected 9 pieces here which I'm going to talk about with you and show you ways in which you can use these (either the pieces themselves or as inspiration) to create lots of different looks.

Of course these pieces are just a few that I've found and you'll have your own pieces to use as well as jewelry and accessories to 'own your own look'.

I'd be very interested to hear your opinion on 'my picks' below in the comment section and to know if or how you'd incorporate any of them into your wardrobe for the upcoming season.

From Birdsnest you'll see I've selected both wide legged black pants as well as a black skirt and I think of these as cornerstone pieces for your Fall and Winter wardrobes. I couldn't resist adding the final item, a gorgeous top from Free People which I've fallen in love with. This top could be worn with either the skirt or pants and I absolutely love it although with the bare shoulders I'm aware that it may not be warm enough for some climates.

From Birdsnest I've included two different long vests which can be worn over skirt, pants, dresses etc to create that long floating line that really says Boho.   It also adds an extra layer which is very on-trend for winter fashions this year.

I've also included a hat as I think you need a good hat and I love the shape of the Jimmy Choo hat, although to be honest I'll probably be buying a different brand myself!   I think a fedora would look great, but chunky beanies are also a great look which can look great with Boho style and are also very on-trend this season.

The other two items I've added will go with a dress, pants or skirt and are about adding layers and warmth while keeping your style.   One of my favorite's is the Lola Contrast Gorilla Faux Fur Gilet from Missguided which is a very cool look for this winter as well as, I think, having some great Boho elements to it.   Next is the poncho which I would imagine is very warm if it's anything like the poncho I had last year (and it does look like it).   Ponchos are a great way of adding a touch of bohemian style to a costume so I just had to add it here.

So there you go if you want some Boho style this winter then hopefully I've given you some inspiration.

Fall into Winter Looks

If you're after a look that you can wear on lots of different occasions - we're talking what they used to call 'smart casual' and that will transition from Fall into Winter with ease then this skirt and top combo are perfect -

The colors are neutral - this black maxi skirt will be a universally useful wardrobe component that can be worn day or night. The top is really cool and as well as looking great with this skirt it is gorgeous with jeans or even the on-trend leather (or faux leather if you're on my budget!) black trousers.

The detailing on the top is a great way of getting texture into your outfit which seems to be very stylish for this coming winter season.    You could combine these two with a leather jacket, houndstooth swing coat, grey trench coat or even a bright red duster quite easily which shows just how versatile these two items of clothing are.
